An argument after a Trey Songz concert may be what lead Kansas City Chiefs player Jovan Belcher to commit suicide at the team’s training facility on Dec. 1, approximately an hour after shooting his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins dead.
Jovan Belcher, 25,died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound near Arrowhead Stadium on Dec. 1. His death occurred approximately an hour after he shot and killed girlfriend Kasandra Perkins, 22. According to a new report, the couple argued after Kasandra returned home late, following a Trey Songz concert.
“Jovan and Kasandra were frequently seen arguing over the course of their relationship,” a friend told the Kansas City Star. However, she had no reason to believe their fights had ever become violent.
On Friday night, Nov. 30, the friend added, “Jovan confronted Kasandra when she came home after watching R&B star Trey Songz perform in Kansas City.”
Unfortunately, details of their argument may never see the light of day.
“Jovan was a happy, proud father, with pictures of his baby on his Facebook page,” Jovan’s agentJoe Linta told SI.com’sPeter King on Saturday Dec. 1. “This is shocking. Something went crazy wrong, and we’ll probably never know what it is.”

The incident took place after a related, earlier off-site shooting, a Kansas City police spokeswoman Darin Snapp told NFL.com.
“About (7:50 a.m), we got a call to a residence, in regards to a shooting, on the 5400 block of Crysler Ave,” Darin said. “We arrived and the lady there informed us that her daughter had been shot by her on-again, off-again boyfriend. The young woman was taken to a local hospital, where she died a short time later.”
“At about 8:10 a.m., we received a call to the Arrowhead practice facility in regards to a black male armed with a gun in the parking lot, and he matched the description of the shooting suspect,” Darin continued. “Officers arrived, saw a black man with a gun to his head, and some Chiefs employees. As the officer got out of his car, he heard a gunshot. It appeared the individual shot himself. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.”
“We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation,” a team statement said, confirming the incident.

Kansas City Chiefs player Jovan Belcher murdered his 22-year-old girlfriendKasandra Perkins after reportedly assuming she was having an affair with R&B singer Trey Songz. After shooting the mother of his child dead, Jovan drove to Arrowhead stadium and killed himself in front of his coach and general manager in Kansas City on Dec. 1.
“[Kasandra] and her girlfriends went to see Trey Songz and Miguel at Midland [theatre]. It was one of her first nights out since having the baby,” a friend of Kasandra’s tells MediaTakeOut. According to the source, it was Jovan’s jealous delusions that lead to both of their deaths, even though Kasandra never met Trey Songz.
“After the concert [the girls] went to the afterparty. She didn’t do anything wrong, she wasn’t with any guys, and was nowhere near Trey,” the friend adds. Jovan was reportedly so upset that Kasandra didn’t come home immediately.
“[Kasandra] left after getting a text from Jovan. And that’s the last we saw her.”
According to reports, Kasandra returned home and after Jovan accused her of having a relationship with Trey Songz, he shot and killed her.
